It seems to me that if there’s one drop of love in this world
it means the future is open.
If God already knows how everything’s going to turn out, then there’s no risk
And if there’s no risk, there’s no love
Love isn’t love unless someone can walk away.
It seems to me that if there’s one drop of love in this world
it means the future hasn’t been settled.
If God’s not willing to change, to adapt, to be affected by us then he’s cold and aloof
And if God’s cold and aloof, there’s no love
Love is vulnerable.
It seems to me that if there’s even one drop of love in this world
it means the future is still unfolding.
Choices we make seem to make a difference in this world
And if there is no difference making, seriously, what’s the point of love?
Love matters.
The story is unfurling even as I write
Storms too
Somewhere a parent is lying down with their child listening
to rolling thunder
They’re making up stories
Laughing
First the parent, then the little one
Love is the story playing out in the middle of a storm.
